ITINERARY: 7 Days From Marrakech to Fes Via Sahara Desert Tour
1 Day : Marrakech arrival
We will pick you up at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
2 Day : Marrakech – Marrakech
In the morning accompanied by an official guide of the city to discover this exotic city with its historical monuments. As the old medina, the minaret of Koutoubia, the Bahia Palace, Jardins Majorelle, historical tombs and the famous Koranic School ben youssef. Rest of the day at leisure.
3 Day : Ouarzazate – Ait ben haddou – Ouarzazate
You will be picked up by a car from the accommodation and we start our 9 days route from Marrakech to Fes through the desert. Cross the Atlas Mountains by the Tichka pass. With 2260 meters high, this way we will see the oasis, palm grove, kasbahs and the beauty of the Atlas. The middle is also an occasion to appreciate the Berber villages and their way of life. We will drive through the world heritage of humanity Ait Ben Haddou. Considered as a UNESCO center since 1987. 4 Day: Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Todra Gorges – Sahara.
After breakfast, we take the south-east direction, passing through 1001 kasbahs. We pass through the palm grove of Soura and through the Rose Valley we will go to the Todra Gorges. These gorges are world renowned for being one of the most spectacular rocky canyons. In some places the gorges are only 33 meters wide, but have cliffs over 100 meters high on each side of the river, then we continue our route through the town of Erfoud and arrive in the desert of Merzouga in the afternoon.
5 Day :Sahara Desert – Khamlia – Sahara
Erg Chebbi is one of the most beautiful dunes in the desert of Merzouga in southeastern Morocco. Today will be the day of the desert. In the morning we discover the surrounding area of the dunes. We will visit some nomad Berber villages still living in tents. We will rest in an association of the Khamlia people from sub-Saharan Africa (Mali, Sudan…) to see and listen to their music. In the evening we will return to the hotel, and we will get ready to ride camels and sleep in the camp under a starry sky in the middle of the desert.
6 Day : Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
Early in the morning you will be woken up to see what may well be the best sunrise of your life. You will be able to peacefully ride the camel-walk towards the village of Merzouga. Over the dunes, you cannot miss the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. The dunes change color with the light as the day progresses.
At the village of Merzouga, we will take the car and start traveling to Fez via the Ziz valley and Azrou. You will enjoy the fascinating scenery along the magnificent Ziz gorges carved in volcanic rock. We cross the Middle Atlas and the city of Midelt. Stop to enjoy a barbecue and refresh yourself with a glass of mint tea and then we continue our journey to Fez. Another stop in the cedar forest in the Atlas Mountains where you will see monkeys in the jungle. Arrive in Fes at the end of the day.
7 Day : Fes – Fes
After breakfast at the riad, accompanied with an official guide of the city of fes “the Spiritual city of Morocco”. You will spend the whole morning exploring the Medina and its narrow streets; we will visit most of the sites of historical and cultural interest – including the famous University, the Al Karaouine Mosque (the oldest in the world), the Medersa Bouanania, the tanneries and the Nejjarine fountain.
After lunch, we will go outside the Medina to see the gate of the Royal Palace, walk through the Jewish quarter “el Mellah”, and then visit the pottery cooperative, one of the fortresses of Fes, the impressive panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fes. Rest of the afternoon free.
8 Day : Fes – Airport
Transfer to the airport and end of our services.
