Itinerary & description of the 5 Days Tour from Marrakech to Sahara Desert

ITINERARY:

Day 1 : Marrakech – Ait ben haddou – Ouarzazate

You will be picked up by a 4×4 car and we start our  5 days tour from Marrakech to Sahara Desert  and travel south to Ouarzazate. Crossing the Atlas Mountains on a 2260 meters high pass. A day of discovering the Berber villages, the kasbahs and the beauty of the Atlas Mountains. It is also an opportunity to appreciate the Berber villages and their way of life. We will drive through the famous world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. It has been considered a UNESCO heritage site since 1987. It is a setting for many films, such as

Afterwards, we continue our way to the door of the desert, Ouarzazate where we will stay for the night.

Day 2 :Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Boumalne Dades – Tinghir – The Desert

After breakfast, through Ouarzazate we take the road of the Thousand Kasbahs to Skoura, and from here we will cross the Valley of the Roses and then the Dades Valley, we will go to the Todra Gorge. These gorges are world renowned for being one of the most spectacular rocky canyons. In some places the gorges are only 33 meters wide, but have cliffs over 100 meters high on each side of the river, then we continue our route through the town of Erfoud and arrive in the desert of Merzouga in the afternoon.

Day 3 :Merzouga – Sand dunes – Khamlia – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will enjoy the Merzouga desert in 4 × 4, where we will visit Khamlia. An African village, where you can be entertained by the local community playing traditional desert music on a simple instrument. Then we will make a tour around the area of the dunes with the possibility of stopping in some nomad tents to have tea with them. In the afternoon we will go with the camels to the camp. An unforgettable night with a starry sky in the middle of the dunes.

Day 4 : Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

After enjoying the most beautiful sunset and sunset of all Morocco, we will return by camels to the hotel, from there we will take our car again, we will go to the city of Rissani. This is where all the financial movement takes place. It is the first imperial city of the country, the souk under the red arches and its ksour. We follow the road to Alnif and the Berber village of Nkob to reach the longest river in Morocco. We will go through the magnificent Draa Valley (more than 1200 meters long). Since ancient times, the Draa Valley is the most beautiful road in Morocco, but also the most winding. The Draa river valley is more than 160 m km long, between Ouarzazate and the gates of the desert. It is a very green valley, with date palms. It was a road for commercial caravaneers connecting Marrakech with sub-Saharan countries. We will pass by the impressive adobe Kasbah fortifications that served to defend the Draa region. After the small town Agdz we cross the Anti Atlas Mountain or Jebel Saghro and arrive in Ouarzazate in the afternoon.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Our last day Tour From Marrakech to Sahara Desert begins In the center of the city of Ouarzazate. You will find one of the fortress kasbahs of the region, the kasbah of Taourirt. It is considered a National Heritage Site and is therefore one of the most visited in Morocco. The all-powerful Lord of Atlas and his relatives owned properties throughout the southern part of the country. The Taourirt kasbah was one of them, and what is more, the Glaoui family had its origins here. What was the village of Taourourirt, the kasbah and the ksar (walled Berber village) is integrated into what is now the city of Ouarzazate. We cross again the Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech in the afternoon.
