In the morning we start our coastal route of the best Atlantic beaches of Morocco. Enjoy this day on the wonderful beach of Essaouira after a short trip from Marrakech. The interesting architecture of Essaouira shows Portuguese. French and Berber features creating an incredible citadel protected by UNESCO. There are small white houses, a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful streets, and it is the occasion to taste its fresh fish.
Day 3 – Essaouira – Agadir
After breakfast, we start our day. About 25 km south of Essaouira, on the road to Agadir, we find, bordered by a forest of Thuja, the beach of Sidi Kaouki. This wide beach is buffeted by strong winds from the northeast, which produce large waves. It is a very good place for surfers and windsurfers. We continue our journey through the forest of Argan trees. Where we can see the goats climbing the tree. Before reaching the city of Agadir is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast. The beach of Taghazout. Taghazout is an important tourist center next to a small fishing village of Berber origin, located 20 kilometers from Agadir. For many it is the best place in Morocco and is considered a Mecca of surfing in Africa. We arrived in the afternoon in Agadir.
4 Day – Agadir – Tiznit – Beach of gezira – Sidi Ifni
After breakfast we will head towards Sidi Ifni passing through the village of Tiznit. The city of Tiznit Founded in 1882 by Sultan Mulay Hassan I, by the need to create in this city a defensive post to control the hinterland, the chosen site offers strategic advantages such as proximity to the coast (15 km) and the location on the trade route linking Essaouira and the Sahara. During the first years of the French protectorate it was the seat of the blue sultan El Hiba lord of the Anti Atlas. The city is known in Morocco for its craftsmanship of silver and brass jewelry in simple shapes such as bracelets, necklaces, frontal ornaments and belts. The old town of Tiznit is walled with a line of walls 7 km long and 3 meters high, crossed by towers and five gates (Bab Aglou, Bab el Khemis, Bab Targa, Bab el Maader and Bab Ouled Jerrar) reminiscent of the city of Essaouira.
After Tiznit we follow the route always with the Atlantic coast up to a very wonderful beach called Legzira Beach. This famous beach is a natural monument, where the arches of red sandstone rocks of spectacular size, resembling dinosaur legs, stand out due to the action of many years of erosion.
It is reminiscent of the beach of the Galician cathedrals, about 10 kilometers later we will arrive at the Santa Cruz del Mar Pequeno Sidi Ifni.
5 Day – Sidi Ifni – Guelmim – Tafraout
Towards the Anti-Atlas, we pass through the city of Guelmim, towards the famous small town of Tafraoute, a city nestled in the valley of Ameln, in the heart of the Anti-Atlas. Tafraoute is well known for almonds, argan oil, petroleum and the production of leather shoes called babouches. The Ameln valley is one of the most impressive erosive landscapes in Morocco. The valley floor is occupied by a palm grove and to the north rise the walls of the JbeI el kest. On the other hand, to the south, the valley is flanked by huge granite masses, which present sugar-loaf shapes, as well as steep slopes, all taking on a strange pink color in the evening that makes it seem unreal. 3 kilometers south of the city is the village Aguerd Oudad, where the famous rock called Napoleon’s hat and the Rocks painted in different colors are located.
Day 6 – Tafraout – Taroudant
After breakfast we will drive to the village of Tiznit again. We will continue on to Taroudant. This one is called the “Grandmother of Marrakech” because it looks like a small Marrakech, with the ramparts surrounding it. In the sixteenth century the Saadian briefly Taroudant used as capital, before moving to Marrakech. Today it has the feel of a fortified town with a small market in a caravan. The city is known for its local handicrafts, including jewelry. Almost the entire city of Taroudant is located inside its walls. A new part of the city is developing outside the city walls.
7 Day : Taroudant – Marrakech
